An exciting watermelon that was almost lost to home gardeners. This is one of the melon varieties that renewed the interest in heirloom watermelons. An old Amish variety that is named for the unique pattern on the skin resembling a moon and stars, this also extends to the leaves, giving some gardeners a fright thinking that they have a diseased plant.
